Another question. If I enter:
kilroy> rpm -q lesstif
lesstif-0.86.0-1998.09.17-1
kilroy> rpm -q lesstif-0.86.0-1998.09.17-1
package lesstif-0.86.0-1998.09.17-1 is not installed
I noticed this after a little investigation, running the "foreigners"
script and seeing that message going to stderr. Since I couldn't see any
advantage to it and get the same output either way, I changed the
"rpm -qil `rpm -qa`" to "rpm -qia". That removed the error message.
Could the problem be that the version number for "lesstif" is too long? I
tried all truncated versions and they all claimed to not be installed.
Thanks, Bryan, for the script. I've also wondered at a quick way to do
this. This should be easily adaptable to find all packages not belonging
to the _currently installed_ version of Red Hat.
Thanks,
Eddie
