[newbie] lilo basics

We are planning to use a Toshiba 4010 as a test box for RH 5.2 and Oracle
805 and then 815.

We are getting conflicting recommendations regarding having an MSDOS part.
and the use of "lilo".

Is lilo used even if you do not have an MSDOS partition?
