I have been reading from my NTFS partition quite freely, using a custom
kernel with this option compiled in. Linux doesn't seem to care about NTFS
perms, so nevermind security when you access this way. Kernel config help
files say that NTFS write capability (a separate option) is alpha stage and
dangerous....I haven't tried it.
