You should start the mountd with the option "--no-nfs-version 3"
But, that wouldn't stop your problems. It only takes you a little further.
The nfs implementation in RH6.0 is (&*^%)*^%)%.

Yes. Get a server made with NetBSD, or on older version of RH. I heard that
RH5.2 should work also.

Be carefull. If you talk about networks, the *BSD guys are the ones to ask.
