Re: DDS2 tape transfer HP9000 to Linux6

Hi,
Are you using tar or fbackup? fbackup is propietary to HP, so linux won't be able to read it, if you use tar or cpio, you should get through...

Alternatively if you are on a LAN do an NFS share and cp your stuff across...

HTH,

Ahbaid.

Hi I'm trying to transfer data from an HP9000 S800 running HP-UX 10.2, via a DDS2 tape to an Intel based Linux v6 system. Both machines have DDS2 SCSI tape drives. Both can read third-party media release tapes. The HP9000 can read tapes written from Linux6 (using cpio). I've tried every possible cpio switch combination, even the '-H hpbin' ones, but to no avail. Any suggestions on what to try next? Thanks for any helpGraham
