Why does the list get cc'd on some posts rather than the To: field? For some
reason it doesn't even show up in outlook (I have to look in the headers).

Here's my $.02:
On RH6.0, I can mount a floppy as a user (with the proper
entry in
/etc/fstab) as long as the floppy is using the ext2 file
system. That's
just the command
>mount /mnt/floppy
and all is well.
However, if it's using the DOS filesystem the syntax is:
>mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy
But then I get the same message, that only root can do this.
I just
accepted this and su if I have to mount a dos floppy. I can
still unmount
the floppy as a regular user (umount /mnt/floppy) but can
only mount a
non-ext2 floppy as root. If anyone knows a way around this,
I'd love to
know.
Making an ext2 file system is simple enough. I'm at work
away from my box
right now but I think the command is /sbin/mkfs.ext2
/dev/fd0. That
should make the ext2 file system on the floppy, after which
you should be
able to just run the mount /mnt/floppy command as a user.
Linuxconf has
an easy way of making both floppy and cdrom mountable by a
user. If
you're not familiar with it, drop me a personal e-mail &
I'll reply when I
get off work. ;)
