I'm in a bind and I thought some expert advice might save me a lot of time.
I now wish to have my RH 6.0 machine on the LAN here. I opened the case,
added a HP ISA card (no jumpers), booted, configured eth0 in the network
tool in control panel in X, removed the old ethernet module and loaded
hp100 (I modprobed in net for h* and the hp100 loaded and seemed happy). I
edited conf.modules to make hp100 the eth0 alias. At some point I pluged
the ethernet into it.
When I boot I get all [OK] messages (except for NFS which I'm going to rip
out shortly).
But I cannot ping anything nor be pinged. The wire functioned last night
(with another computer) so I think the problem must be in the card or my
configuration.
So what now? What could be preventing the system from working correctly
and what do I do to trouble shoot and fix?
Your advice appreciated! I'll be happy to post back more info. Thanks in
advance!
-Alan
