RE: X lockup

Mouse is definitely plugged in. I can manipulate windows in X and close them
for about 5 seconds until it hangs up. I also can't ping the box after
lockup so it seems to be a seriously hard hang.

I've run Xconfigurator at the console to ensure that X is configured
correctly. I select "Generic Multisync" for the monitor type (it's an Apple
1705 Multisync) and it properly detects the video card as a vision 963 of
server type S3. I've used this card in another linux box before, where it
worked correctly, using the S3 drivers.

I'm going to create a telnet-able account now, and see if I can stop the
process before it happens .... Other suggestions most welcome.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Is your mouse plugged in? It seems silly, but my system will lockup if
you start X with no mouse plugged in. My mouse, btw, is set to imps/2 and
I'm not sure what version of XFree86 I have. I know it's from around the
time of RedHat 5.2.
