I just installed RH 6, and I'm loving it, but I'm having some problems
with cdrecord. I've got an IDE HP 8100i CD-RW (ATAPI), so it's
necessary for me to use SCSI host emulation. I configured and rebuilt
my kernel as per the cd-writing howto, to no avail (I even tried
removing IDE-CDROM support completely, rather than use an option line in
/etc/conf.modules to exclude my cd writer [/dev/hdd] from ATAPI
detection, but still no luck). No matter how I configure the kernel
(even without IDE CDROM support at all!) my CD drives are still detected
as ATAPI at boot. I previously had SCSI host emulation and cd writing
working properly with Slackware, and this is the one problem that's
keeping me from using Linux exclusively.
I should also mention that I've got an adaptect SCSI controller for my
external ZIP drive installed, and that's working fine - could this have
something to do with my troubles? cdrecord -scanbus only lists scsibus0
devices, on which the ZIP drive is connected.
