Root on the console (ie not X, no su'ing)?
Two questions:
1) have you tried re-installing the rpm?
2) If yes to above how much ram do you have?
3) Did you install all the glibc stuff, if not what did you omitt (you
would have to do this explicitly in the install, if you didn't change
it by hand, you should be ok).
