This little problem is driving me crazy! I'm the original poster of this question and have not got an answer yet!!! In a nutshell here is my problem: When I connect to my ISP via modem my $HOSTNAME changes. Can this be prevented, and if not what is the best way to change the $HOSTNAME variable back to say "localhost"?
