sound with KDE

Greetings,

I have RH 6.1 but can't get sound to work with KDE. When I log into gnome
I have sound. How do I setup sound for KDE? I've asked RED HAT and they
referred me to here and to KDE.org. I have gone into sndconfig and it
found my sound card, but when I go into sounds and test I hear nothing.
Whats wrong? Thank you in advance for your knowledge.
