I've never had to dink with the setup of vi but my one 6.1 host has this
annoying problem: When autoindent is set and I try to back up (e.g., to
unindent the closing brace of a loop), it just makes an error beep; it
won't backup over the tab. The help file appears to say that this is the
correct behavior but I cannot image why and it worked differently in
previous Red Hat versions. I searched deja and Control-D is not what I'm
looking for.
Hmm, as I type this, I'm wondering if it's the terminal setup rather than
vi... this happens when I telnet in and also on the console using terminal
types vt100 and linux.
Anyway, if anyone can see what's wrong or has solved the same problem, I'd
appreciate a note. I'd like to get back to the 6.0/5.x way. Thanks!
