I have redhat linux 6.0, running Fvwm, (fresh install, started with re partitioning the harddrive)
computer is on the network with a ne2000 card
the station has no problems getting to the outside world, but when I sit at another station (95, NT) and telnet to the linux box, the telnet session takes a full 2 minutes to return a login prompt, once I log in, everything runs fine, no delays
same thing with ftp, I was using dos ftp, switched to cute-ftp and same problem, I get a socket connected message, but a full 2 minutes before it logs in
any thoughts?
thanks

Some network service is screwed up and is timing out. Try using IP's instead of names; if that works immediately, then it's DNS.
