At least with RedHat: Install. That will take care of it. In my case,
the installation process detected that I had a dual processor MB even
though I had only one processor installed in the moment of the OS
installation. I was immediately given the smp kernel, which I was very
greatful for, when I two weeks later dropped in the second processor.
