RE: ppp help

ok your right
I used the control panel provided and used network configurator. I add ppp
after initally setting up my eth0 card which was found just fine by the
installation program.
here are my settings in the network configurator
Names:
Hostname : linux (name of this box)
Domain: neff.com (lan domain)
Search: fast.net (my isp)
Nameservers: dns #'s provided by isp
198.69.204.#
198.69.204.#
Under Host I have by going to etc/hosts added all of the tcp/ip addresses
for the lan
192.168.1.whatever
(3 boxes in all)
Interfaces :
added ppo set up modem which is on com3 irq 5 (have a serial mouse and
cannot find modem on other settings)
1- have hardware flow control and modem lines checked
2-have abort connection checked
Line speed is 115200
modem port is dev/modem and I can hear the modem dial and connect.
Communication have script written and is same as old red hat 5.0 for my isp
and checked in logs and is right
have debug checked.

I did setup masq but this is config before I messed around or wasted my
time.

I am stumped in logs I keep getting an "alarm" after connection or when it
connects I can even get route information by typing route there simply is no
transfer of data.
Please advise anyone as I usually have the network masq.up all the time.

ifconfig looks like this

lo Link encap:Local Loopback
	inet addr:127.0.0.1 Bcast:127.255.255.255 Mask:255.0.0.0

This is odd. It suggests that you have started a process from a terminal
window - which is killed when the term is closed. But pppd is a daemon and
should not behave like that.

Yes, but you don't say _how_ you set it up. Did you place edited scripts
in /etc/ppp or do you use netcfg, kppp or similar?
