ppp and modem

I wrote earlier today and have had some small success in getting my ppp
working now it seems that the feed or data coming in appears to be very very
slow. I have tried several modems to insure I do not have a modem or
connection problem. I am wondering if there is a file that may need to
changed to up the buad rate I have tried 14.4 modems and 56K modems with
virtually the same result I do suspect it is more related to a conflict in
linux than in the actual modem. I posted my config files earlier and any
ideas would be appreciated.
