I think you missed my point. Lets say you end up with a
drive that has one partition for Win98, and the rest for
Linux.
Now, lets say Windows 98 crashes and has to be reinstalled.
The rumor I hear is that a Windows 98 install will take the
entire drive, not just DOS partitions; ie, it will repartition
and reformat the entire drive to a single FAT32 unit.
I have no doubt that you can shrink it like you said, but I
am worried about what happens next if you need to reinstall
98. It would wipe out all your work. You should be safe if
you do not need to reinstall 98.
It could be that different versions of Win98 act differently.
There are three: OEM, Upgrade and Full.
