If you have dual boot with Win98 and anything, inlcuding Linux, if you need
to reinstall Win98, it will **not** use the entire drive. Windows 98, just
like
windows from the past, requires a formatted (FAT/FAT32) partition. It
doesn't
do any partitioning for you.
About on-the-fly partition for a dual boot, Partition Magic 4.0 works
nicely. It
will resize a pre-existing drive to give you extra space for new partitions
and
there are options to format those new partitions linux native and linux
swap.
