Re: tar just stops



It is possible you didn't get the whole file.  If it
ends/ended in .gz, though, you must use the -zxvf switch. 
Log back on, compare the file sizes.  If you're sure you've
tried everything people have suggested and there is still no
luck, or if the file sizes are different re-download the
file.  If you're file is smaller than the original file, you
can use ncftp.  Use get -C filename.tar.gz and it will pick
up where it left off, but you must be in the same directory
as your local copy.  Ftp offers the command 'reget' for the
same purpose.  Make sure you download the file as a binary
file.
