Hello Linux Community,

I have recently aquired from a surplus list a Compaq Proliant 2000.
The processor is a I486/50 with 48mb of ECC Memory, (1) 1.05gb Harddrive,
CD-ROM, DAT unit. I am trying to install Linux 5.1 as my OS and I can't get
past the install. Now I suspect that the NCR 53c710 chipset on the embedded
controller has something to do with my problem. What I have done so far is
updated all the ROM's on the system through Compaq's Softpaq program. That
has actually made it worse because before the ROM updates I could get to
the part where install asked my what kind of SCSI device I had. Now I can't
get past the "Loading initrd.img". I am getting a Boot failed even at the
expert mode. I have read some books and I believe I need to use parameters
for the device loading option at expert mode. But I do not know what to do
at this point because I can't find any good examples or references. I hope
someone on the mailing list can help me. Thanks in advance.
