Red Hat apparently doesn't support installation via SMB. (The implications
of this are best left to another post). Here is the trouble ticket I gave
them. Does anyone have any ideas?
Note: I already checked the How To for Samba; that only covers after you
get a working Linux install and want to run Samba on it.
---- Body of your request follows ----
State the installation problem:
After selecting SMB volume type, won't mount correctly when SMB server
name, share volume, account, and password are specified. In my WinNT domain
I can access the share and server under the specified account with the
specified password. Testing by entering server and share shows on install
logs that the server is reachable; when account and password are entered
incorrect parameters are stated. Once again, using the exact same account
and password the share is accessible elsewhere.
Is the problem a post/pre install question?: Pre-install
Have you changed anything on your system that may affect the
install/upgrade process?:
No.
Have you checked the errata?: Yes
[http://www.redhat.com/errata?]
Have you checked to insure that your hardware is compatible?
[http://www.redhat.com/hardware/] Yes, since I've had a RedHat 5.2 install
via FTP on this exact box work and be up and running, before.
Have you changed/added hardware to your system?:
No.
