Hi,
I have installed RH5.2 on my new stand alone computer at home. The
installation went smooth but I do have a few configuration problems.
Sound is configured. As root I can play CDs in xwin. As a user the CD
player won't run. I'm using the CD player that comes with RH5.2. I
know,
only root can mount the CD drive but to play CDs the drive does not
have to
be mounted. I can think of two possibilities: a) a config file has to
be
copied into the users home directory or b) some permissions have to
changed
on the original files.
Thanks for your help.

Rene,
do a chmod 777 /dev/cdrom and chmod 777 /dev/dsp as root this will give
you permission to use the cdrom to play cds. If this does not work just
let me know i will look at what else i might have done to get this to
work.
