Why?  Would you mind if somebody drove by your house and took a picture of
it?  They'd be able to see if you had a window open.

If you're concerned about port scans, then the best thing to do is set
your log level high and fix any security holes in your machine.  The tools
are out there to secure a machine better than any of us could afford to
secure our houses, and yet, I highly doubt you'd consider somebody looking
at your house harmful.

Back your important data up, encrypt anything valuable, and don't worry
about someone probing.
