When I needed an ISP to use when travelling, I signed up with
Mindspring.  I called their tech support lines when I was trying to 
connect from my sister-in-law's w95 machine, and the tech support person 
was a Linux/FreeBSD nut.  Even though Mindspring is (by default) pretty
Windows-centric, and even though I wasn't asking, she was ready to tell
me anything I wanted to know about connecting from a Linux box.  Which
maybe I just got lucky with the support person, but Mindspring gets at
least a little credit for hiring her...
