Wow, I did it. After using fips to partition my hard drive in half I
successfully installed Linux on the new partition. I now have Win98 on
one half of my drive and Linux on the other. I have encountered some
problems with Linux though. Since I am using a Dell laptop the touchpad
doesn't work, so I have no mouse in X. The second problem is that X
won't start right. The first time I tried to startx I received an error
telling me that it couldn't connect the mouse so it shutdown on me. The
second time I tried it using a different mouse in the configuration and
x started this time. But the screen is really messed up and seems to be
split in half. Once in x all I can do is turn the computer off. My
touchpad is made by Synaptics V4.3 on PS/2 Port. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for all your help, I have yet to go back and read a bunch of
messages that were written to help me earlier.
Thanks again,
Aaron
