Star Office 5.0 locks on install

I've been trying to install star office 5.0, and each time I try it locks X up
tight after putting the frame for the initial dialog box up, but before putting
any text or pictures in it.

I am running a 5.2 system with the most current (as far as I know) libc.  Any
help or ideas would be appreciated, since right now I have to reboot to *ugh*
Windows to work with MSWord documents.
