Re: Strange useradd problem??

Well, this is odd.  Maybe someone has experience of this or can point me in the
right direction.

I'm running RH5.1 with KDE.  I still have it booting to $ prompt.  

When I login as root and try to "useradd" a new user, such as "useradd paul",
I get no error messages.  Then of course I "passwd paul" and set a password.
When I then logout and try to login as "paul", I get an incorrect password
error, and can then login as root.  I am not entering the wrong password.   I
have carefully reset the password several times.

I'd appreciate any help or being pointed into the right direction!!
