Print problems

I'm trying to print to a IP printer through a router and keep getting
errors. I can ping the printer going through the router. If I change the IP
of the Linux server to the same network as the printer, It prints ok. When
on the other side of the router, the status in /var/spool/lpd/lp shows
"waiting for 10.10.10.91 to come up". If I try to do an ASCII print test, I
get "Error printing test page to queue lp. Error reason: lpr: connect: No
such file or directory. Jobs queued, but can not start daemon." It acts like
the daemon is timing out before seeing the printer. Any ideas as to what I
might do to solve this problem? Is there somewhere to put a longer timeout
for this?
