How do I image a partition?

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

I'd like to 'image' a partition on one harddisk to another partition on
another disk of the same size as a form of backup. It has to be an
'image' copy rather than a file-by-file copy though.

Anyone know how to do this easily from the command line?
