Re: Databases on Linux

Hello,

I've done a large financial / inventory system migration from an IBM
System 36 onto an ORACLE database, I hope I can help in the area of
ORACLE migration.

I had three basic steps:

1) Export the data from IBM Sstems 36's EBCDIC format to flat ASCII
2) Build an empty ORACLE database
3) Import the data using SQL Loader into the ORACLE database

SQL Loader is a tool which comes with ORACLE to allow reading of
text files into an ORACLE database table.

This was quite a tedious task, I'm unaware of other tools to do
migration between RDBMS's to ORACLE but if any does, please let us
know.

If I can be of any help in migration to ORACLE please feel free

Where can I get a copy of this?
