parport and Red Hat kernels

This may be a naive question, but can anybody suggest a course of action
for patching my kernel up to 2.2.0-pre5 starting from Red Hat's 2.0.36
kernel?  I need to get a ZIP and Ditto drive to share my parallel port
with the printer, and I can't start until I've got parport built into my
kernel.  I'm after the pre5 release 'cause that's the one from which the
most recent parport patches are applied.  TIA.
