Well, wish me well. This newbie thinks he's learned enough and messed
up his system enough in the learning that it's time to start with a
clean slate (slate: a flat piece of rock which used to be used to
write upon).
I think I know which config files to save in order not to have to
repeat =all= of my former mistakes: fstab, Xconfig-whatever...
I know I'm going to have only about 3 partitions this time to avoid
wasting space on some and running out of space on others.
I think I'll set up one "user" (I'm really the only one) with KDE for
functionality and and another "user" with icewm for cleanliness (and
to be sure when things don't work right that it's X and not KDE).
I wish I had learned about X fonts, but my attempts have never
produced anything other than suggestions about things to try. Maybe
later.
I wish I could find a book that really explained Linux without taking
the first half of the book to tell you how to install it, plus another
quarter to tell you how to use vi and emacs, which I never touch. I
did buy the new Nutshell book, but it's too lean.
