Boot hangs after setup of SB sound card....what to do?

I recently tried to setup my sound blaster sound card on my Linux
machine.  I have a Intergraph TDZ-400 workstation with 64 MB RAM, Dual
Pentium II 150 MHz.  When the machine boots up I now get the following
message, before the boot process hangs...SB 4.13 detected OK (220).
Obviously I have done something wrong. I am not so interested in getting
the sound to work as I am in getting the boot to complete.  What do I do
if I want to forget about the sound card working and just get my machine
booting again?
