travan tape backup

I have a machine that has a Travan SCSI tape backup in it.  It takes Travan NS
8gig tapes.  I was looking at the ftape howto and thinking that's what I needed
to use, but reading it, I am thinking I need something different because this is
SCSI drive.  Is that correct?  The ftape howto mentioned the SCSI howto but there
is only a SCSI-programming howto as far as I can tell.

Any info?
