Samba and Red Hat 6.0

Hello:

Managed to get just about everything up and running correctly now. Did have
some issues with printing before, but that appears to be working correctly.
Was able to test everything under printool in gnome, and all of the tests
came out correct. I exited from gnome, and typed lpr <file> and it prints
correctly too.

I have a Windows NT 4.0 Workstation box on a small 2 machine network. Under
Red Hat 5.2, I had Samba running properly with no problems at all. I was
able to print from both machines to the printer attached to the parallel
port on my Linux machine.

Before installing the new 6.0 release, I made a copy of the smb.conf file
and stored it away. Samba appears to be working correctly on the new 6.0
release. When I go to network neighborhood, I see the Linux box, and I also
see the printer. I can copy files from my home directory on the Linux box,
so I believe everything is working correctly. At least it appears so.

When I go to print a document, in any application, on the NT machine, it
says that it is sending it to the printer, and then nothing. The printer
doesn't light up, I get no error message at all on either machine, nothing.
It's almost like the document is being printed from the NT machine to
/dev/null on the Linux machine. I compared the old smb.conf file from the
5.2 install and the one from the 6.0 install. They're almost identical.

Anyone have any ideas where I might look or some tests that I can run to try
and narrow the problem down further?

- Mike
