Hi! Thanks to everyone who has helped so far.
I've got my home system setup so that I can remotely start x-clients on my work system that connect to my x-server at home by using the xhost command and modifying the DISPLAY environment variable.
What I have not been able to do is figure out how to iniate a remote login to my work system using xdm. If I rlogin to my work system and execute xdm as anything but root it tells me that only root should run xdm. If I use SU to get root access and run xdm it just starts-and-stops with no login screen displayed on my
X-server at home. I can't rlogin as root on my work system. Do I need to do this?
I guess my question is:
Once I've got connectivity established between my x-server at home and remote x-clients at work, how do I use xdm to login to my machine at work as a sort-of thin-client?
Performance is pretty good so far with apps running across the cable modem, BTW! :-)
Thanks!
Will
