It's a pnp isa card? Sounds like a job for isapnp to me... "man isapnp"
isapnpdump > /etc/isapnp.conf
edit /etc/isapnp.conf by hand to set the resources to non-conflicting values
(check the various files in proc).

Subject: Ethernet_Problems
Greetings,
I'm having trouble with an Intel EtherExpressPro100 Card, and I'm not
quite sure why. Thanks to the wonderfully descriptive assistance of Steve
Borho and others, I've made some progress here, but I still can't seem to
get the card to initialize and work properly.
I ran through linuxconf, and the card is still not recognized (even after
reboot). (I reboot as sort of a throwback habit from Winblows; is this
necessary under Linux?) My suspicion is that the card is a PNP-type
device, and this may be getting in the way of Linux configurations. How
would I disable the PNP aspect? The card "initializes" prior to the LILO
prompt (or so the screen readout tells me).
Following are the boot and shutdown messages that are pertinent to the
card in question:
==============================
Upon shutdown:
insmod: /lib/modules . . . ethepro100 . . . device busy
eth0: unknown interface
Upon startup:
insmod: /lib/modules . . . ethepro100 . . . device busy
delaying eth0 initialization
==============================
Any help here would be greatly appreciated (including pointing me to
resources on the web). Private replies are encouraged if this question
betrays my elementary Linux knowledge.
Best,
