Much better, since the PCI modem will not work at all with Linux.
If its really ISA, it will work with Linux
if Win9X can use it as a "generic modem" with no drivers from diskette
or CD.

You can skip that with an external modem.
Just use /dev/ttyS0 for COM1, etc.
