RH6 questions re: gnome, enlightenment & startx

Hi people,

I was after some advice on Redhat 6.0's startx script.. I can't seem to find
where enlightenment is getting called when running startx. I wouldn't mind
but x crashes saying that gnome coulnd't find a compliant window manager
even though it shows me the little enlightenment bar loading and a ps aux
shows enlightenment running..

I've followed the startup of 'startx' and basically figured that it's
calling xinit using /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc and /etc/X11/xinit/Xclients as
paramaters if it can't find anything in ~
Xclients in /etc/X11/xinit appears to be looking for a PREFERRED variable to
be set (in /etc/sysconfig/desktop?) and if not it will execute gnome using
gnome-session then it will look for a window manager to execute.. checks for
~/wm_style - which I havn't created on my system.. then is supposed to
execute
/usr/X11R6/bin/RunWM --Fvwm95

now, am I right so far? 'cause if I am then I can't see how enlightenment is
getting loaded.

as a matter of interest, if I create /~wm_style and add fvwm95 nothing
happens.
Gnome and Enlightenment still try to load.. also, if I add ~/.Xclients with

exec /usr/X11R6/bin/afterstep

then it loads afterstep without a problem.. If you're interesting I'm using
a p133 with a Mach64 video card.

I'm assuming that somehow gnome is calling enlightenment? Then again maybe
not :)

Thanks,
Adrian
