I'm having a similar problem with regard to adding RPM packages that depend
on this library. For example the Mahogany mail client.
'rpm -V libstdc++' returns no output. I assume this means that the package
properly verified.
In a similar library related problem, I attempted to install the eterm 0.8.9
RPM and it will not run, claiming it cannot open a 'libEterm' shared
library. The RPM provides this library itself.
I am thinking this may be a problem with /etc/ld.config not containing the
correct paths to all of the libraries. Would this be the case?

Ah, then you didn't do what I suggested, which was:
rpm -V libstdc++
Note the "t" in "libstdc++".
