(1) This is about Redhat the company, albiet not Redhat the
product, and it was posted to the general redhat-list.

(2) I regret to say that my committment to pragmatism is not
so perfect.  If I thought it were really true that Redhat
was playing some kind of machiavellian game here, I would
at least consider respecting a boycott.

(3) Impolite? Yes, and probably also impolitic.  But there
are few ways I could think of to find out something about
this, and asking a question here seemed to be worth a try.
