List folk;
I've recently upgraded to RH 6.0 from 5.2. I blew away my partitions and
installed from scratch. Everything installed and has been running great.
Now I need my MP3 fix, so I downloaded an upgrade to OSS and installed it.
Well, it couldn't auto-detect my sound card (an on-board ESS1869). I went
into BIOS and looked up the values for it. Plugged them into OSS. Nothing.
Bottom line: I can't get this to work for anything!
pnpdump doesn't find any cards. I've also tried removing all extra cards
(e.g. SCSI) from my machine. Nothing.
If anyone has any ideas, I love to hear them. Before you ask, yes, I did
the Windows drill. Installed Windows and the audio device is auto-detected
and works just fine. Did something in the PCI or PnP setup change under
6.0? Thanks!
