Printing Kernel Options

Use make xconfig or make menuconfig. Each gives you an option to save
the config file. Give it a suitable name, and then the next time you
can load it, modify it, etc. E.g. I usually save a file as
config-2.0.36-1, config-2.0.36-2, etc. (I am using RH-5.2 with 2.0.36).

Note: the files are stored in /usr/src/linux, so if you are going to
bring down a new and different source tree, you should copy them to a
different place; e.g. /usr/src.
