Read the man page for --force again. It says exactly what I believed to
be the English definition of force. It says that it will replace the
files. It DOES NOT say it will halt if there are dependencies. I've
suggested to Redhat that the man page be enhanced to include a pointer
to --nodeps if there are dependency problems.
It is extremely easy to read into the --force option that it will update
the files, no matter what. That is what force means, no matter what.
