5.2 to 6.0

I'm developing a Fundamentals of Linux course at
Sinclair Community College. This quarter my lab
technician and I are developing our System
Administration and Network Administration skills.
We have RedHat 5.2 and 6.0 installed on two
different machines. We've managed to get them on
the school network without any major problems and
are now ready for new challenges. We are
considering upgrading the 5.2 install to be more
like the 6.0 version. What are the best steps to
give the best results? My thoughts were to first
upgrade the kernel, then approach the GUI apps.
Once these are running smoothly we plan to
continue to add Star Office, Word Perfect and a
few other apps that would make a nice student
workstation for someone attending an engineering
school.
  Thank you in advance.
  Regards,
  Art
