DUMP: Protocol to remote tape server botched ???

Can anyone help with the following problem when trying to make a remote dump!?

>[root host]# /sbin/dump B0uf 2000000 backupmachine:/dev/nst0 /boot
> DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Wed Sep 29 10:56:34 1999
> DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
> DUMP: Dumping /dev/hda5 (/boot) to /dev/nst0 on host backupmachine
> DUMP: mapping (Pass I) [regular files]
> DUMP: mapping (Pass II) [directories]
> DUMP: estimated 2301 tape blocks on 0.00 tape(s).
> DUMP: Protocol to remote tape server botched (code "bash: rmt: command not
>found").
>/sbin/dump: Lost connection to remote host.
> DUMP: Bad return code from dump: 1

I've checked and have installed the latest rpm for rmt, which exists in /sbin/rmt
The man page for dump on another unix (DEC OSF) mentions:
> Another vendor's rdump command may fail because rmt is not located in /etc.
> To avoid this problem, it may be necessary to provide a symbolic link on
> the machine pointing to /usr/sbin/rmt

So just in case I make links to have /sbin/rmt pointed to by /etc/rmt and /usr/sbin/rmt

If I log in as root, I can execute the "rmt" command fine, so it seems to find it ok.

Consequently, a remote dump from DEC unix to this RedHat 6.0 works, but NOT a remote dump from RedHat 6.0 TO RedHat6.0

Any ideas!?

Thanks!!!!!
