Yeah, I know. They're using a product (Resonate I think) to distribute
load between their physical server locations. Basically the idea is that
they measure the time it takes for the echo to return back to them so they
can figure out which datacenter is "closer". That way they can serve the
ads from the nearest server.
Cisco's Distributed Director and RadWare's WSD-NP do simular things
(though I think they use traceroute and ping to do their testing).
