Kernel compile in 6.1

Just upgraded to 6.1 from 5.0. The upgrade was very smooth. Nice job
Redhat!

Quick question though, I compiled my first kernel and instead of make
zImage I did a make zdisk (I like to try it on a floppy first, call me
cautious) and the system gets as far as booting kernel and then stops.
Anyone have any issues with this? Are there new steps in 6.1 compared to
5.0?

Thanks
Mike

P.S. Tried GNOME for the first time. I think I may like it better than
KDE.
