Printing under Linux is ultimately controlled by /etc/printcap.  This is a
rather nasty file to have to hand generate (thus the existance of
printtool and linuxconf) but it is well documented (man printcap) and the
option you are looking for (it will be obvious) looks like this:

   lp = /dev/lp0

Just change it to lp1 and see if that helps.  If you feel nervous editing
the file by hand, just be sure to make a backup copy before you twiddle
with it.
